"Y"-Abstract Mixed-Media Assemblage on Board is the third piece of the Remnant Series which pays homage to Detroit's vibrant industrial age. Like it's predecessors, "Y" is comprised of found objects: rusted metal pieces, along with burlap and acrylic paint. The metal pieces are positioned in the shape of a "Y" and is partially covered in a similarly shaped piece of burlap and placed in the middle of the composition.

There are many variables involved with the demise of a metropolis. One of those variables denotes the "why" element. It is my wish that when the viewer sees this piece, they will decide that it's time to evaluate what the negative variables are and how they can be either reworked or avoided altogether in order to aid in the process of renewal and rebuilding.

"Y" was featured in the "Visions of Detroit" exhibit that was held at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, Detroit, MI in February 2020.
